Two Students Named to State Academic Teams

91直播 students Catherine Martinez and June Shi, representing some of the best and brightest Mounties, have been selected by Phi Theta Kappa for this year鈥檚 All-California Academic Teams.
Martinez and Shi join 112 other community college students from across the state in achieving the honor, which is based on grades, leadership, and community service.
Martinez, 19, is a history major and has a 3.92 GPA. She was selected for the All-California Academic First Team. Martinez lives in San Dimas and was also named a 2022 Mt. 91直播 Student of Distinction for her academic achievements. Martinez serves as an associate justice on the Associated Students Student Court and is a member of the Mt. 91直播 chapter of PTK. She volunteers as a blood donor ambassador for the American Red Cross. Martinez also works with Multiplying Good, a national organization focused on youth service and leadership, and currently serves as co-president of the group鈥檚 National Youth Advisory Board. She plans to transfer to UCLA next year, and upon completing her undergraduate degree, plans to pursue a law degree.
Shi, 21, is a psychology major and has a 3.87 GPA. She was selected for the All-California Academic Second Team. A resident of Baldwin Park, Shi is active in several of Mt. 91直播鈥檚 programs including the Honors 91直播, Arise and the Mt. 91直播 chapter of PTK. She serves as the Activities senator for Associated Students and vice president of the Mountie Transfer Club. Shi also participates in the UC Berkeley Starting Point Mentorship 91直播, UCLA Center for Community College Partnerships and has served as the student representative to the Strong Workforce Advisory Committee. She plans to transfer to the University of California.
Phi Theta Kappa is the international community college honor society and recognizes the academic achievement of college students and provides opportunities for its members to grow as scholars and leaders.
